- Understand how to modulate from one key to the next using a Dominant 7th chord.
- Make a habit of modulating through all 5 keys as part of your regular chord warm-up routine.
- Memorize the Major and Dominant 7th chords that are associated with each individual key you’ve learned so far.
Notice that the 1st Major chord of the key you’re in becomes the Dominant 7th chord of the key you’re moving to. In other words, the chord E becomes E7 when you move from the key of E to the key of A. Likewise, A becomes A7 when you move to the key of D, etc.
